Siltext®
Siltext® products are silicone based texturizers. They are suitable for silicone emulsions, but they can also be used in O/W, W/O emulsions, as well as in anhydrous systems to impart softness and silky feel with matt application. The range is free of Cyclomethicones, which is an important aspect when formulating products for world-wide distribution.
Technical information
Siltext® range is constituted on silicones. Depending on the formula and the degree of polymerization and cross-linking of the polymers, silicones may have different characteristics. They can be slippery liquids, waxes, or rubbers. Mainly silicones are used as emollients, lubricants, thickeners, and as volatile liquids with smooth feel. However, highly cross-linked silicone films are used in cosmetics to form films that absorb sebum and prevent shine.
Siltext® products can be considered to be texturizing agents with added value, as they have other functionalities in addition to being texturisers. They can thicken emulsions by emulsification or by increasing the viscosity. They form a film, which prevent moisture loss. The film formed by Siltexts® has an elegant cosmetic feel unlike many other film formers.
Properties and application areas
Siltext® Duo and Siltext® Mat products are based on Dimethicone Crosspolymer and hence they both have a capacity to absorb sebum. Siltext® Duo imparts a dewy application, whereas Siltext® Mat gives matt application.
Siltext® Velvet is based on Dimethicone and Polyethylacrylate, and it is used to impart a soft velvety feel to cosmetic products.
Siltext® Iridescent is based on a combination of high molecular weight silicones and hydrophilic Glyceryl Polyacrylate. It forms a continuous, yet breathing film, which prevents moisture loss. Siltext® Iridecent functions also as a co-emulsifier in O/W and W/O emulsions.
Siltext® products can be used in skin care, colour care, and sun care applications.
